Welcome to Social Studies at Park Slope Collegiate! In grades 6–8, our curriculum follows the New York State Social Studies Framework, guiding students through global and U.S. history while building essential skills in critical thinking, analysis, and civic engagement.
Sixth graders explore ancient civilizations and world geography, while seventh and eighth graders examine the complex history of the United States—from Indigenous cultures and colonization to Reconstruction and modern America. At PSC, we make learning engaging and relevant by centering student voices, encouraging inquiry, and highlighting diverse perspectives often left out of traditional narratives. Our approach helps students understand how systems of power have shaped history and empowers them to think critically about justice and equity in the world today.
