Help Reform the Middle School Process

October 22, 2015

If you loathed the middle school placement process, you're not alone.  Parents for Middle School Equity, a group of District 15 parents--led by PSC parent Miriam Nunberg--is working to change the way children are assigned to middle school. As this slideshow makes clear, a survey the group conducted last year found enormous dissatisfaction with the current process.  The slideshow also demonstrates how the process results in segregation by income, race and national origin.

If you want to add your voice to the growing chorus demanding reform of this stressful and inequitable process, please sign and share this petition. This will show the Department of Education that there is widespread community support for reform.

Parents for Middle School Equity is also looking for more members, so please write parents.middle.school.equity@gmail.com, if you are interested in helping out with next steps.
