NEW YORK EDGE
Middle School After-school with NY Edge
New York Edge (NY Edge) is a not-for-profit organization that provides high quality sports, arts, and educational programs to over 35 thousand New York City school children annually. NY Edge provides wholesome skill building activities, which help develop high academic performance, including health and wellness, improved self-confidence and strong character values – all of which contributes to a lifetime of success.
This year, the Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation (SASF) program has rolled out a brand new after-school program designed especially for our school. All Middle School students are invited to participate in the free SASF Champion Club. The clubs will be run by many of our own 6-9th grade teachers as well as a few special visiting artists.
You must fill out the permission slip and return it with your student if they would like to join the program. Homework help and a hot meal are provided every day. Students must attend a minimum of two days per week in order to enroll.
Here's some of the choices being offered during the spring 2015 session:
Ms. Thompson: Step Club
Ms. Vega : Sports/Fitness/Weights
Mr. K.: Global Partners (using technology to develop writing skills with international pen pals)
Ms. Crowley: Science Club
Ms. Parziale: Middle School to High School
Mr. Anthony: Leadership and Yearbook
Guest Instructors will offer Guitar and Art
This session promises to have loads of fun trips too!

Free Summer Camp at PSC with SASF
SASF has successfully operated summer camp programs for over 20 years and the programs are free to the students. At SASF, we believe that physical fitness, creative arts & academics are the birthrights of all people, as well as the pathway to succeed and become better students and citizens. Research confirms that children who spend their summertime in a fun, safe and productive learning environment perform better in the classroom. The summer program is open to students that are currently in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades and will take place at Park Slope Collegiate from 9am to 2pm. We will be offering dance programs, step, art and various sports as well as trips.
